love widespread and a great live band to see.haven't seen them live since mikey died,great band.my first show i ever saw them at was at a club with about 500 people and they smoked it,been a fan since but they don't play in small clubs like that anymore.

And this is the problem with any truly good band: they only are able to play small venues so long and then their own talent creates a fan base that necessitates the bigger places. If all bands sucked, we wouldn't have this problem. You can only hope you're lucky enough to see a band before they get recognized like you did early on with Panic.

I only got to see them two times both in 91 or 92 I think and both were before the hit it big. The first time was in Telluride - check out THIS bill:

Widespread Panic
Taj MAhal
David Grisman
Hot Tuna
Allman Bros.

NEVER had heard of WSP before this day. Had ingested some early morning lysergic and needless to say they blew me away.

The second was at Red Rocks during a Horde tour. I forget who all else was there. I remember Aquariam Rescue was good, and IF this was the time I saw Big Head Todd at Red Rocks ( dont remember if this was then ) they were awesome too. And if Blues Travelor headlined that year I'm sure they sucked just like every other time I've ever seen them.
